The street is our carrefour, where we meet friends, make acquaintances, have fun, and share our stories.
For my side, as a street photographer, I sometimes pick up a camera around my neck and walk to some frequented streets, I don't meet anyone, I just walk, watch and capture some scenes.
Such scenes, for instance, can be a quick talk between 2 people as captured in the first three photos in this article, most likely they cross each other by coincidence.

I wish those photographs could speak louder, or could better reveal the dialogue between those people, maybe the look, the gestures could say those are close friends, neighbours, they didn't expect to meet, but somehow the chaos of the city made some random arrangement so people can cross each other.

If you notice, none of these subjects is aware that I am aiming at them in my frame like I'm invisible, or I don't exist at all, in fact, those pictures are taken using physical gear. I have to stay still a split of second to capture that slice of time and later process an imaginary dialogue they could have.
As previously shown, in "those street talks" there are 2 people in the frame, it can be as well 3, 4 or even a crowd.

Even though nowadays, we have numerous ways to talk to each other virtually, still it's not the same in reality, seeing someone dear to you or meeting your close friends in front of you, it's totally different.
We are social creatures in our nature, we can't live alone or isolate ourselves even if we want to, despite we all need a moment alone to process our self-thoughts, and to have our internal dialogue within ourselves.
To sum up, If I feel off, sad, or happy, I just walk and walk, I may cross somebody, or I may not, in case it happens, it's a special date done for you by God or Universe anonymously and we have a saying for this.
A coincidence is better than a thousand dates.
Great shots and moments you have captured ! And interesting thoughts…in times we are in contact with so many people but still feel most alone resources say…we maybe need the “fire” to gather together, listen to and tell stories instead of all the gadgets/phones etc. 😊
ReplyDeleteIndeed, we may think that the world got all connected with this cuting edge technology, however we seem to be forgotten the physical contact which we need the most.
DeleteThanks a lot Anja for your feedback, very much appreciated :D
